Fabric Guide
Fabric Guide
Fabrics, explained—without the fluff
This page helps you choose the right feel and function before you buy. HUMANCHIC pieces are designed to look polished, wear comfortably, and hold up in real life—workdays, weekends, and travel.
Because items are made-to-order, fabric clarity upfront means fewer surprises (and fewer returns).

How to read our fabric info
Every product includes a Fabric & Feel section. Here’s what the terms mean:
-
Feel: what it’s like on skin (smooth, soft, brushed, crisp)
-
Weight: how light/heavy it wears (affects drape and warmth)
-
Stretch: how much it moves and snaps back
-
Structure: how cleanly it holds shape (more structure = sharper silhouette)
-
Breathability: how well it vents heat (important for layering)
Our fabric families (the ones you’ll see most)
Jersey
Best for: T-shirts, everyday tops
Feel: smooth, breathable, easy
Stretch: light-to-moderate
Structure: relaxed drape
Good to know: if you want a sharper look, choose Tailored fits or layer under a jacket.
Knit
Best for: Polos and refined casual
Feel: soft with a more “finished” look
Stretch: controlled (moves, but stays neat)
Structure: higher than jersey
Good to know: knits look more polished for office-to-after.
Fleece
Best for: Hoodies and warm layering
Feel: soft, cozy, comfortable
Stretch: low-to-moderate
Warmth: high
Good to know: for a cleaner silhouette, pick Classic fit. For lounging/travel, Relaxed works.
Outerwear
Best for: Jackets
Feel: more structured, built for layering
Stretch: minimal
Structure: high
Good to know: prioritize shoulder comfort. If you’ll layer sweaters/hoodies, consider sizing up.
Performance (when available)
Best for: Active Chic essentials
Feel: smooth, lighter, quick-dry vibe
Stretch: moderate-to-high
Breathability: high
Good to know: designed to move—choose Athletic fit if you have broader shoulders or prefer more room.
What to choose (quick picks)
-
Clean office look: Knit / Outerwear
-
Everyday comfort: Jersey
-
Warmth + layering: Fleece / Outerwear
-
Movement + breathability: Performance
Care & longevity (simple rules)
To keep the fit and finish consistent:
-
Wash cold, inside out
-
Tumble low or hang dry for best results
-
Avoid high heat (it can shrink fabric and stress prints)
-
For embroidered pieces: don’t iron directly on embroidery
Made-to-order note
Your item is produced when you order it. This keeps the catalog lean and reduces overproduction. It also means fabric and fit details matter—use the product page guidance to choose confidently.
